Bench and Firetrap – the ultimate casual go-togethers.
Saturday, February 18th, 2012One of the things that makes fashion so special is the intense, palpable energy that comes with it. Like the best music, great fashion defines the moment, reflects society and is capable of reminding us of how special something was in the past.
It transcends barriers and reflects our culture, beliefs and attitudes.
Two fashion brands that fall firmly into this category are Bench and Firetrap. All you have to do is look at the history and brand philosophies to understand why.
While doing some casual online browsing the other day we ended up coming across a cool collection of Bench Jeans at Littlewoods. It really caught our eye, and the urban style displayed by the brand reminded us exactly what we’ve always loved about it.
Bench was born kicking and screaming into 1980s Manchester – that vibrant, rebellious and innovative place and time for fashion and music. All those Bench jeans, T-shirts and tops did more than simply dress their fans – they reflected their spirit and energy.
Times have changed, but the essence of the brand remains the same. Slide into a pair of Bench jeans today and your head cannot help but be filled with the distant, rebellious notes of the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays. And no matter how hard you try to fight it, your walk will take an added swagger – that’s confidence.
This feeling goes into overdrive when you pair those Bench jeans with some Firetrap clothing items – like two tasty drinks, these brands go together brilliantly, creating a confidence cocktail so strong you could grow dizzy on it.
Firetrap is, in a lot of ways, a similar brand to Bench. Founded in a pre-Britpop Britain back in 1991, it’s every bit as rebellious and energetic. Take a look at the Firetrap website and you’ll see their no-nonsense philosophy (more a call to arms), as they describe their brand as “subversive, unconventional and creative”.
What’s not to admire about that?
Our personal favourites in the Firetrap clothing cannon comes from their T-shirt collections. Stylish prints that grab the attention without looking garish – they’re ideal for sitting over the top of your Bench jeans!
